English
This week we will be continuing to use the story What the Ladybird Heard.
Monday 4th May
Adjectives
Ask an adult to read the story to you again. Today I want you to listen very carefully for the words that describe the characters. We call these describing words adjectives. On the sheet attached below, highlight the describing words (adjectives) for each of the characters.
Tuesday 5th May
Alliteration
Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len both have names that describe them and start with the same first letter, which is known as alliteration. Come up with alliterative names for all the other characters in the story. What name would describe the farmer, or the prize cow? What name would describe you? Remember we call those describing words adjectives. Year 1 children please write a list of your ideas in your Busy Books. Reception children, ask an adult to write some of your ideas for you to copy into your Busy Books. Can you help to sound out the words?
Wednesday 6th May
Parents please read the letter from the police attached below. Talk about ways in which news is shared and what your child could do to help let other know about the problem.
Thursday 7th May
You are going to start planning a wanted poster for either Hefty Hugh or Lanky Len. Think of the information you might need to put on your poster. What do they look like? Remember to use those describing words (adjectives). Why are the police after them? Where were they last seen? What should people do if they see them?
Friday 8th May
Make your wanted poster.
