Oak Class English Home Learning Challenge; Week beginning 27th April 2020

This week we will be using the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ by Julia Donaldson. Many of you will have a copy at home, for those who do not I have attached a link to an electronic copy below.

Monday 27th April

Read the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ by Julia Donaldson. Listen to the ‘What the Ladybird Hear’ song and join in where you can.

Tuesday 28st April

Recap the story and look closely at the map Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len have drawn. Make your own map of the farm and label the animals and features of the farm.

Wednesday 29nd April

Recap the story.

Think of the instructions Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len used. Why is it important to follow instructions carefully? Think of some things that could go wrong if you didn’t follow the instructions properly. Write a list of things you do that involve following instructions.

Thursday 30th April

Recap the story. Look at the instructions for washing our hands. They have bossy words that tell us what we need to do (imperative verbs): wash, rinse, put, dry, rub. Can you put them in the right order?

Friday 1st May

Design your own farmyard. Draw a picture/map of it, making sure your prize cow is the furthest from the gate. Talk with a grown up and tell them the instructions Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len would need to follow to get to your prize cow. Remember to use your bossy words and make your instructions clear.
