Little Wandle Phonics Meeting

On Monday 3rd February, Reception and Key Stage One parents were invited to a meeting after school to find out more about our new phonics scheme- Little Wandle.

Miss Taylor explained that the children in Reception and Year One have daily phonics sessions and practice reading groups three times per week. Year Two children have daily spelling lessons and reading fluency groups three times per week. The children take home the decodable book that they have read in class once a week to 'show off' their wonderful reading to their parents. The link below has many Little Wandle resources for parents.

Mrs Collins spoke about the 'pleasure for reading' books that the children will also be bringing home weekly. These are books that adults can read to their children and encourage communication and language development. The video entitled 'Fish Eyes' in the link below (scroll to the middle of thepage) is an excellent example of this.

We will share more information about this scheme as we progress through it.
